As a Director at BFY, Mark leads transformational change for UK energy and utility companies. His mission is to accelerate their journey to Net Zero, delivering on the promise of the energy transition and creating value for their customers, shareholders, and society across the energy value chain. Mark is a critical friend, challenging client executives and enabling board level decision-making.
Mark has over thirty years’ experience in operational and transformational leadership roles, with the last 10 years being entirely focused on energy and utilities. An Army Officer for almost twenty years, Mark has been a management consultant since 2012 – most recently as a Vice President, and Energy Networks portfolio lead, for Capgemini UK plc.
With experience spanning strategic analysis, design, implementation, and support of digitally enabled business transformation, Mark has worked across complex and challenging programmes. He draws on his credentials as a Chartered Engineer and MBA, combined with deep domain expertise in intelligent networks, asset management, organisational dexterity, and transformation management.
Mark thrives in ambiguous and complex situations. He brings clarity, focus, and trust - translating strategy into reality and achieving sustainable results.
Examples of Mark’s experience:
- Mark led the advisory support to create a roadmap, blueprint and programme of work for a multi-platform systems transformation (£40M+) at a UK national utility - accelerating delivery and ensuring business case completion and sanction.
- As client strategic advisor and delivery lead, Mark led a £100M Enterprise Asset Management and Geospatial Information Systems platform transformation programme. This included a focus on strategic roadmap, business engagement, process standardisation and organisational transformation – ensuring programme success and business adoption.
- As client partner and strategic advisor, Mark led the shaping, planning and delivery of a £150M ERP and Customer Information System re-platforming for a major UK energy supplier. The project delivered a new Target Operating Model and full end-to-end business transformation - shaping the organisation’s future from its core platform outward.
- Alongside the Global CIO, Mark created and managed the strategic plan for a multi-year IT enabling programme, underpinning a €700M agile transformation for a global high-tech manufacturing giant. He coordinated the relationship between the strategic planning office and programme delivery teams. Working with Global Business Process Owners, Mark also maintained C-level relationships - ensuring alignment between Business and IT on a strategic roadmap. The programme focused on cloud migration, future-ready scaling, and embedding Agile as a core business philosophy.
