As a Director at BFY Group, Tom leads client engagements with a particular focus on commercial strategy, pricing, customer acquisition and retention. He helps clients to achieve sustainable revenue and gross margin growth.
Tom has extensive commercial experience across the UK Energy Market. He was most recently Chief Growth Officer for a Private Equity backed SaaS billing software scale-up, where he was responsible for leading international and domestic growth.
Prior to that Tom spent 9 years at Centrica, where he held a range of senior commercial roles in the UK B2C business including Head of Pricing, Head of Commercial and Sales Director. Tom's early career was spent with Bain & Company as a Strategy Consultant, primarily working across Energy, Utilities and Financial Services.

Customer switching rates in the energy market have doubled since 2022, but we're still far from the levels seen pre-energy crisis. The long-term trend of customers switching away from large legacy suppliers is continuing, with net gains for non-legacy and small suppliers.
Pressure on suppliers' margins as domestic consumption falls
Declining energy consumption is placing further pressure on suppliers' margins, with average consumers paying less than suggested by the price cap. Typical annual bills are ~13% lower than the headline price cap in Q3-24, as Ofgem's TDCVs haven't kept pace with falling consumption since the energy crisis
